Welcome to Oakwood Psychology Services
Stockport NHS
Adult Eating Disorder Service

We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, providing the NHS contract as the Stockport community adult eating disorders service.
We offer evidence-based psychological therapies for people whose primary mental health diagnosis is an eating disorder or ARFID.
Our service is for people aged 18+ living and/or registered with a GP within the Borough of Stockport (SK1 – SK8).
Referrals: Important Update 1st November 2024
-
Over the past five years there have been strong national, regional and local calls for Community Eating Disorder Services (CEDS) to be medically-led, and to provide specialist medical monitoring and interventions for eating disordered patients alongside their GPs. Oakwood is unable to provide a medically-led service.

-
Oakwood served notice on the CEDS contract to NHS commissioning several years ago, suggesting that a medically-led service should be commissioned to provide the Stockport CEDS following the end of our current contract term. Oakwood will stop providing Stockport CEDS on 31st March 2025.
-
Commissioners do intend to source a suitable provider, however currently no CEDS is commissioned from 1st April 2025.
-
Oakwood will stop taking CEDS referrals from 1st December 2024 so we can complete treatment with people already in therapy and on our waiting list.
-
Until the current CEDS contract expires on 31st March 2025, Dr Emma Salazar (our psychological therapist clinical lead) will remain available for consultation with GPs and other professionals who may have concerns about eating disordered patients, and will continue to help with referrals to hospital or day-care.

-
Emma can be contacted on 07858 106 063 or e.salazar@nhs.net to discuss any clinical queries. Other queries can be addressed to Dr Gabriel Wynn (service director) on g.wynn@nhs.net.

-
Our staff are unable to provide updates on the commissioning position including when a new CEDS might commence taking referrals.
