I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a trainee member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I have worked for Oakwood Psychology Services since 2015 with clients referred to the Stockport NHS Community Eating Disorder Service. I also work as a volunteer counsellor at Stockport Women’s Centre.
I am an affiliate counsellor for Health Assured. I have previously worked at HMP Risley providing counselling for male prisoners, and for a nationally recognised mental health charity providing both general counselling and solution focussed therapy.
How I work
I consider the quality of the relationship, and awareness of the process in the therapy room, to be essential for change to take place. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and draw on the theories of Transactional Analysis to make you aware of and understand the way you feel, think and behave. These interventions together enable you to make changes to your behaviours, challenge your thoughts and improve your wellbeing.
All of my work is underpinned by a personal interest in the impact of childhood experiences, along with social and cultural issues and diversity on self-esteem, relationships and identity.
