Volunteer Help Line AdvisorVacancy: Volunteer Help Line Advisor

Answer all phone calls during dedicated help line hours. Provide information, advice and guidance to eating disorders sufferers, carers and other callers on a range of topics related to self- help and treatment. Various light administrative duties such as collating papers and photocopying. Provide reception support for the Drop In counsellor. Communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team. Attend management supervision once a month. Attend 6 team meetings a year. This post is ideal for students in counselling, psychology, health and social care, or information, advice and guidance.
Time Commitment
Mondays 5 - 9 p.m. (excluding Bank Holidays) plus 2 hours team meeting every 2 months. Open term with minimum commitment of 12 months. Reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.
Person Specification
Essential
Training in Counselling Skills or Information, Advice and Guidance work. Proven ability to work as part of a team. Proven ability to work without direct supervision with potentially distressed callers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (to be tested on interview).

- The Help Line Advisor is competent with Microsoft Office 2007 and previous versions and is capable of learning new applications without one-to-one tutorial

- The Help Line Advisor can communicate clearly, succinctly, accurately and promptly regarding all relevant issues arising
- The Help Line Advisor works as part of a team and is expected to foster excellent working relationships between colleagues at all levels within the service
- The Help Line Advisor maintains a tidy, clean and safe environment at all times
- The Help Line Advisor uses initiative to complete necessary tasks to a consistently high standard without direct supervision
- NWCED is innovative and evolving. The Help Line Advisor actively and regularly contributes ideas on how to improve services within the scope of their responsibility
