Summary of outcome measures used at NWCED
Results gathered from the Patient Experience Questionnaire filled in by clients when they finished treatment with us January-September 2009:
97% were satisfied or very satisfied with the therapist that treated them
94% were satisfied or very satisfied with the type of therapy they received
94% were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall experience of the service
86% (of our NHS-contract clients) were satisfied or very satisfied with the wait for their first appointment
Outcome Measures used in routine practice at NWCED
Sterling Eating Disorder Scale (SEDS) (Williams and Power, 1995), an 80-item questionnaire with 10 items contributing to each of 8 subscales: low assertiveness, low self-esteem, self-directed hostility, perceived external control, anorexic dietary cognitions, anorexic dietary behaviour, bulimic dietary cognitions and bulimic dietary behaviour.
CIA-3.0 (Bohn and Fairburn, in Fairburn, CG (ed.) Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Eating Disorders, New York: Guildford, 2008), a 16-question self-report measure of the severity of psychosocial impairment due to eating disorder features.
CORE OM-Goals Assessment (www.coreims.co.uk), asks clients to identify up to four goals they hope therapy will help them with, and then at end of therapy asks them to rate how well the service helped them with each goal plus overall satisfaction with the service.
CORE OM-34 (www.coreims.co.uk), a 34-item measure of current global psychologicaldistress.
CORE-OM-10 (www.coreims.co.uk), a 10-item measure of current global psychological distress.
PHQ-9 (Spitzer, Williams and Kroenke, 1999), a 9-question standard instrument for assessing depression in primary care.
GAD-7 (Spitzer, Kroenke, Williams and Lowe, 2006) a 7-question self-report standard instrument for assessing anxiety in primary care.
Work and Social Adjustment Scale, a 5-question self-report standard instrument for assessing the effect of problems on ability to do day-to-day tasks.
Patient Experience Questionnaire, an 11-question service user feedback form about satisfaction with various areas of service provision, developed for use in IAPT sites.
