About Our Placement Programme
Each year North West Centre for Eating Disorders hosts a number of student and qualified counsellors on non-stipend training placements. We welcome applications from suitably qualified individuals and particularly invite applications from male or minority ethnic counsellors.
Our placement programme is a 12-month agreement and offers trainee counsellors a case load of at least four counselling clients who are to be seen for one hour a week. Trainee counsellors are also expected to partner with one of our qualified counsellors to co-facilitate at least one manualised therapy group per year. Trainee counsellors are expected to attend all team meetings and any required clinical discussions. Trainee counsellors are provided with full orientation to the role and the workplace, plus regular case consultation with a senior NWCED team member. External supervision with a suitably qualified supervisor is required, the cost of which is the responsibility of the trainee counsellor. NWCED accepts no obligation to provide trainee counselling psychologists their placement case consultation with a psychologist. Reasonable travel expenses are paid. Placements at NWCED do not lead to any form of paid employment.
Please read the following information before making an application.
