North West Centre for Eating Disorders
Oakwood House - NWCED provides comprehensive evidence-based outpatient therapies for teens and adults with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, overweight and obesity, complex food phobias, and weight and body image distress. We also help family members, friends and partners of those whose lives are affected by an eating disorder, providing support services for carers. We specialize in cost-effective community-based care in Greater Manchester, serving NHS and private clients. Our expert team of psychotherapists, CBT therapists and dietitians delivers knowledgeable, effective programmes to assist people with these complex issues regain good health and emotional wellbeing.
Our therapeutic programmes have been carefully developed in line with NICE guidance, and we use a Stepped Care model which ranges in intensity from Step One to Enhanced Step 3. We work in partnership with GPs, psychiatrists, NHS commissioners, and local community health and social agencies. We currently accept NHS referrals from Stockport GPs for adults aged 16+ with BMIs between 13 and 40. We also accept referrals for weight management psychological support from Stockport Specialist Weight Management Team, and patients in the Choose to Change Specialised Weight Management Programme in Salford, Oldham and Manchester.
